I would be leery of stories about alternative treatments or cures. Most of them arent real. Some of them are flat out lies. Some of them are from well meaning, but uneducated people.

For instance, one that i have heard in real life AND seen on here is that black salve will cure skin cancer. The person I heard it from in real life actually had a boil, not skin cancer.

Or another example is juicing... Fine, whatever, but if you are going through chemo or radiation and as a result have a lowered immune system, thats really not a good idea.

I would stick to stuff that has been scientifically evaluated, or clinical trials. At the very least, she should consult with her doctor about anything she does or tries.

What procedure are you referring to? According to the little information you provided your grandmother doesn’t have colon cancer she has ovarian cancer. If she wants to try alternative treatments she should look into clinical trials.

1. Chemotherapy is an anti cancer drugs are given to stop cancer cells from multiplying. This treatment is most effective for small cell carcinoma.

2. Surgery to remove the affected part of the lung or an entire lung. This offers the best chance to cure lung cancer if the cancer has not spread beyond the lungs.

3. Radiotherapy use of x-rays to target and kill cancer cells. It may be used against some early stage lung cancers and to cure cancer in the lymph nodes from spreading further.

4. Targeted therapy is use of small molecules, often in tablet form that may be used after chemotherapy.
