If it is through your employer then usually not because you have to wait until the next open enrollment. If it is your own personal insurance you may be able to make a slight upgrade without too much of an issue as long as they process the paperwork and receive payment before you have your biopsy. But if they discover you do have cancer before you get it approved and receive your card you will be denied. Hope the biopsy is negative and all turns out well.
