If a man has no insurance, job or property and he gets cancer, will the govt help him pay for treatment?

This man is older, 61 and he lives with his wife who is on social security. He suddenly comes down with cancer. Will the state pay for his/her cancer treatment including chemotherapy and surgery?

They would if he was in prison, so they should for a law abiding citizen.

Oh yes. they will. They will have public aid do something and they will pick up the tab.

In addition, if he takes part in a clinical research trial they provide drug for free, some also provide compensation for taking part in such studies, so there are options….yet one should not consent to therapy for such purposes solely…there are also foundations set up for charity care situations.

If you are in the US, then you should apply for Medicaid. It is the health program for indigent people. Medicaid is a federal program administered separately by each state. Contact your state’s Department of Health for instructions on how to apply.

At age 65 you will automatically qualify for Medicare. Contact the Social Security Administration or check their web site to learn more.

    Good luck.
