If science discovered a diet that could prevent 80% of the cancers, would the media report this?

Assume that the diet consists of local raw vegetables and whole foods that large corporations could not easily profit from.

If the treatment was in the form of a very profitable drug, would the media report this?
As an added note Professor Emeritus from Cornell University published a book called the "China Study" that summarized his nutritional research work over three decades. His NIS grants showed a strong correlation between animal protein consumption and cancers (breast and prostate).

If we ate a pure vegetarian (vegan) diet, we could eliminate more than 80% of the cancers in this country.

It appears that mass media in the US has pretty much ignored this result and continue to recommend a breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon.

Yes but that is very unlikely now.

I think they would, if one newspaper or magazine did not report it some smaller one could have the big story and sell out quickly.
Also look at whole foods and how well they have done in the past. overpriced items with huge margins.
If it were a pill people would probably be more skeptical and would be a different story. in conclusion I definitely think it would be reported by the media.

You can report it all you want but I aint eating veggies all day every day. I want some beef and pork and fish and fowl. Who wants to live forever if you cant enjoy living?

There is a quote that says if you quit drinking and smoking you dont really live any longer….it just SEEMS longer.

That would in effect be killing the goose that laid the golden egg. The drug industry is a powerful corporate entity, financially backed by government and certainly affiliated with the one or two media conglomerates. The media and science in general have been more gungho about promoting diseases and prescriptions for every known ailment to man, rather than any preventive dietary measures. Carrots, vitamin C, apricot kernels, and flax seeds cannot currently be patented, so dream on. A very profitable drug would receive probably more media coverage than 911.
