Is breast cancer covered under my critical illness insurance with Co-operators in Canada…?

I have Critical Illness insurance in Canada with Co-operators. I am wondering if I will get a pay out if I have breast cancer. I know that the American insurance is a lot stingier than Canadian insurance…I have at least a stage 1 invasive-type of cancer….so far we don`t know if it has spread and what stage it may change to…

I think the purpose of this insurance is to replace your income and cover expenses not covered by the provincial health plan. With my stage 1 I really didn’t miss much work, most people don’t. OHIP covered all of my treatment. For a subsequent breast cancer I did miss work and there were expenses not covered by OHIP so I would guess it depends on what treatments you have and how much much they affect you.

Why not call up Co-operators and ask them? Our supplemental insurance is very good about answering questions.
