You can call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 and ask about financial assistance for treatment in your area. The ACS maintains a comprehensive database of programs across the nation to help cancer patients.

The U.S. for-profit health insurance system is seriously flawed and causes misery for millions of Americans every year. Pre-existing condition exclusions, denial of payment for treatment, and under-payment for services are the centerpieces of profit in America's health insurance industry.

Over 500,000 American families declare bankruptcy every year as a direct result of medical bills. Uninsured, under-insured, or unable to cope with ordinary expenses while sick . . . people suffer financially while they battle cancer.

No one should go bankruptcy while trying to stay alive. That is unAmerican, but it happens in America 1,500 times every day.

I hope that your sister gets treatment and has a good outcome.

have your sister talk to the social worker at the hospital where she will be getting her treatment, she/he will be able to give her some help. Each state is different, but start with the social worker.

Try calling the state insurance board and complain to them about it and see if they can do anything. Also call a local TV or newspaper and see if they can do a story about this situation. Also try calling your congressman/senator to complain and see if they can pull any strings to help you. Also you might try getting a lawyer to sue...get one where the first visit is free. Also call the American Cancer Association and ask them for referrals.

If she has the cancer all through her, then it may be that they feel that treatment would be futile (?).

You could google search "Gerson therapy" and "Dr. Max Gerson". It is mostly a program to heal using organic vegetable and fruit juices (vegetarian diet). Also has coffee enemas (which I don't agree with that part).

You could also see if she could get in an experimental program. Go to http://www.clinicaltrials.org and type in the type of cancer in the search engine and hit the map tab to find local trials.

Also don't forget fasting and prayer. Fasting is like a magnifying glass for prayer.

Here are some links. YA only allows 10 links. I took the http out of 7 of the links so they would go through.
