What type of health insurance to get if i think I have cancer?
->
Hi, I’m a 23 year old guy, self employed. I currently have health insurance but I moved to a different state so I’m going to get new health insurance. I have this feeling I have cancer, and I’m going to go to the doctor soon, but what kind of new health insurance should I get just to be safe? What type? HSA? I know nothing about health insurance, please help so I get the best coverage if I do have cancer!

If you jump into the health care system in America, you will need approximately $300,000 to be paid to the system. That is how much the typical cancer patient is worth to the system.
If you have cancer, the medical system does not do very well with cancer. I strongly suggest getting their opinions and then look at alternative methods of making your body healthy. The statistical success of the allopathic medical system is very poor, contrary to what they would have you believe.
Do your homework and it is you who has to make up your mind as to what to do, not anyone else.
good luck to you

Get the insurance BEFORE you see the doctor. Anything your doctor discovers could be considered pre-existing and not covered by a new policy.

Why do you guess that you have cancer?
Have you had some sort of diagnosis before? If no doctor has diagnosed you as having cancer when you buy your insurance then at the time of purchase, you don’t have cancer.I’ve included this site below where you can check out how much your health insurance will cost, with and without cancer, in your new state.
Just a hint, use a pseudonym when checking for the rate with cancer.

You can get any PPO or HMO plans with low deductible and low out-of-pocket maximum. HSA plans usually have high deductible. Make sure you buy the new insurance before you go to the doctor and DO NOT cancel you old insurance until the new one is approved. Good luck!

Medicare or medicaid – that’s the only one that will cover a preexisting condition like cancer.

Since cancer has NOT been diagnosed, it’s not a preexisting condition. I’d say you would want to get something that has a PPO option. This makes it to where you can see a specialist without a referral. Also, look at companies in that state and find one that allows for gamma knife therapy. If you have cancer (and depending on what type) gamma knife from what I read is less evasive and less ill effects over chemotherapy.

All insurance companies consider a pre-existing condition as: "any condition that you have received medical treatment, advice or consultation, or that a prudent person would seek medical treatment, advice, or consultation". Since you are asking advice, and you sound like a prudent person, you have a pre-existing condition even though it has not been diagnosed. If you lie on the application and say you do not have any undiagnosed conditions the policy will be rescinded. The only policy you can get that will cover you would be Medicaid or a group policy through an employer.

An HSA is not health insurance. An HSA is a "health savings account".

Keep your current health plan until you know for sure what your health condition is before making any changes! If you are diagnosed with anything you will not qualify for a plan anymore because it will be a preexisting condition.
Most major insurance carriers are national and worse case will be treated as an "out-of-network" charge but that’s better than nothing!
