When I get brain cancer one day, and my insurance company drops me because I cost them too much…?
->
and I’m lying on my deathbed, because I don’t qualify for Medicaid, and no insrance company will take me because I have a preexisting condition, will I be thanking the Republicans that I don’t have to worry about some sub-par government plan?
After all, we all know no insurance is MUCH better than public insurance.

Me January 11th
You could sue their butts off if they dropped you like that. States have insurance commissions for a reason.
as.erwin January 11th
If your insurance company drops you, your family will be taken care of… You would have a grand daddy of a law suit…
DC Maximus January 11th
No oneis obligated to save you from your own death.
Melissa Baker January 11th
They cannot drop you unless of course you bought a policy which allows them to drop you any time they wish to drop. So perhaps your brain tumor was already there when you signed up to such a policy.
Will T January 11th
uhhh… well at least with the current system you would have the chance to live, obama would make you wait years, and by the time you were gotten to you would be dead or the problem would be to severe to be treated
Holy Cow! January 11th
You should thank them now. They’ve been blocking reform for decades.
justjr January 11th
You forgot to ask your neighbor for help if you get dropped. That’s the real health reform they seem to want.
thebabbster January 11th
SOCIALIST! Lmao!
Buck J January 11th
What did Obama say, "take a pain pill" ?
MR- Medicare is broke! Medicaid is broke! Social security is broke!
CFC went broke in 4 days!
The post office is offering buyouts to their employees and considering ending Saturday service!
Why would a much more expansive government take over of our healthcare be any different?!
Mr. January 11th
The reason Medicare even exists is because Insurance companies found out it costs to much to insure the elderly…. so the Government stepped in and created Medicare. The same thing is happening now, it’s just that "cost to much to insure" bar was lowered to include most people regardless of age. Hence, a public option is needed.

You lie you always lie
Dan January 11th
Just go to the hospital they will give you free care.
Phil M January 11th
Most people don’t realize that all insurance policies have a lifetime cost limit…usually around 2,000,000 in coverage…
If you have a family of 4 that cost is quickly realized. If you have a terminal illness and a family, that cost will be exceeded and they’ll drop you but will typically keep your family insured. Such nice folks.
slykitty62 January 11th
To hear them tell it, all we need to do is pony up and get a job and pay for our own damn health insurance! I can’t stand the arrogance and ignorance of that particular sentiment. Anyone one of us could end up in the situation you pose. And right now, we have no recourse. I hope that this health insurance reform passes and the Republicans have to eat their words.
good guy January 11th
the neocons won’t care about you, don’t you know that?
Doctor Mundy January 11th
What is wrong with government run Madicaid??
You have to trust it will be run like the DMV.
HEAD MM IN CHARGE January 11th
you tell them you want TED care, same as he received
Bedtime for Shrubya January 11th
be sure to also be thankful that you won’t have to allegedly wait in line for the allegedly sub-par gov. insurance.
remember, your care wasn’t rationed – you just didn’t get any. Period. None.
lol, Justjr makes a great point. As Sen. Coburn said, ask you neighbors for help. I’m sure they can organize a bake sale or raffle to raise money and they won’t mind stopping by to look after you and drive you around or run errands when you are too weak to do them yourself.
BIG DADDY January 11th
Go to a country with socialized medicine (ie Canada or the UK) and see how much better you would fare there

"When I get brain cancer one day, and my insurance company drops me because I cost them too much…?
and I’m lying on my deathbed"
What makes you THINK that when you’re on your deathbed, that the government is going to come through for you when all your other options (save private charities) failed you? The government is going to say to you: "Youre on your deathbed. Why should we spend our precious few resources on you when it can be used to save someone who isnt as close to death?"
Les S writes: "They all know that the public option can work"
If Democrat politicians know that the public option can work, then why are they exempting themselves from it?
Les S January 11th
You should ask one of the thousands of Americans who actually are on their death bed because they can no longer get insurance from being rescinded.
Republicans just have one goal, to make Obama look bad. That is it. If they destroy health care reform to do it, so be it. If people have to die from rescinded coverage to make Obama look bad, they will do it. They do not care about the American people who work hard and get cancer. They care about defeating Obama, that is all.
They care nothing about the person with a rescinded health care policy that is going to die this week. They care about putting a black eye on Obama. It is despicable and horrible.
They all know that the public option can work. They just will oppose Obama on anything. That is why they will oppose Co-Ops if Obama says it first, because they just want to defeat him, and if innocent Americans die in the process, so be it.

my wife has breast cancer the metasicized to brain cancer. we have been at it for more than five years. we have had gamma knife twice, we have whole brain radiation twice, we have has four different chemo treatment and our dr’s had given up. we got into a clinical trial at duke and each treatment is 42K and we have 2 treatments a month for the past year. i would say close to one million dollars alone for just that. the insurance company has been nothing but great to us, they have never once had an issue with the cost. i quit drinking and smoking and eating out and drinking cokes and with that alone, i can afford insurance for my family. i would recommend you do the same if your health is important to you. i made a decision to do what is best for my family. have you???
Answer Czar January 11th
Under a public option, do you really believe that there will be enough money to go around where as brain cancer would make it past the review board either way. You rant is pointless.
Aegis of Freedom January 11th
The universe does not revolve around you. If you get brain cancer, you do not have the right to force another person to pay for your health care. This is the flaw with a government insurance plan. Right now I have the option of choosing not to buy insurance, and instead invest my money in my child’s education. In a government plan, I have a gun in my face forcing me to fund and participate. This steals my right to use my money for other purposes I deem higher priorities.
The debate over government insurance is not about YOU. It is about everyone else that will be forced to pay for it at gun point. YOU are not the center of the universe.
Dopethrone January 11th
I love the people that think you could sue the insurance companies if they did that to you.
They do that all the time. They call it rescinding.
ktheintz January 11th
Right, like the other posters said, suing the insurance company is your best recourse, though what representation you are able to afford is probably going to be no match for the entire law firm the insurance company keeps on retainer.
So it goes back to the Republican answer for anyone who loses their insurance: sucks to be you.
Coup d'etat January 11th
actually if you’re on a plan and THEN develope the brain cancer then it is illegal for your insurance company to drop you (see Insurance and Consumer Rights Bill of 1994). So I guess you should have just plan ahead better.
Peace through blinding force January 11th
You’ll be wishing it weren’t a CRIME for you to seek care the government deems not cost-effective.
Even the WORST insurance company never used guns and badges to FORBID anyone getting care.
Jackem Armbamoff January 11th
Of course nothing is better than something.
Just think of all the money you saved (?) in taxes that you can’t enjoy anymore!
Oh well. At least I didn’t have to use the words ’socialized medicine’ (eeewww, gag me with a spoon)
Amber Rose January 11th
Even if your insurance doesn’t drop you and you are covered , lots of luck getting in to see an oncologist. By the time you do get in your cancer may have spread throughout your whole body.
Rather Die Free January 11th
well my Mother who has MS was just dropped from Medicare…..so much for the Government …….

At least you’ll know you weren’t a dam*ed socialist!
Sgt Red January 11th
No you will be in a hospital or dying at home, just like you would be on Obamacare.
shirley ann January 11th
How about you get taxed all your life and the same illness occurs and you get turned down by the governmnet anyway. THAT WOULDN’T HAPPEN THOUGH .
andy g January 11th
Not going to happen but the question shows lib fear tactics!!!
Fonz January 11th
What makes you think obama care would help you… You would have already died because the gov person that decided you were too old for care..
If you are as old as you look, How in hell can you be so stupid?
Write Winger January 11th
No, you’ll die waiting for a procedure because the system will be overrun with people accessing "free" healthcare.
Or you will be asked to think about "end of life" counseling, and that maybe treatment isn’t what you need because you’ll die anyway and just end up costing the state too much money.
Yeah, go for that option.
