medical assistance in her state can help if her income guidelines are low enough. Some hospitals and clinics offer low cost, no cost medical care as well. Check with the social services department of her hospital and the social services of her state and county.

Over 50 million Americans are completely uninsured and another 50 million have inadequate insurance, a deficiency that will only become evident when it is needed most. You are not alone.

Contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 and explain your aunt’s situation. The ACS maintains a comprehensive database of health care resources indexed by state. Your aunt may be able to apply for Medicaid or another government managed program, the ACS will give you the criteria and contact information.

Other responses posted here, such as contacting your county health department and soliciting help from your local hospital, are also very valid suggestions.

Best wishes for a good outcome.
